Prosecutor’s Office

The Vineland Municipal Prosecutor’s office is a Division of the Department of Law.  The office prosecutes traffic tickets, housing violations, public health violations, disorderly offenses, fire code violations, and other specialized matters as deemed necessary by the court.

Many times matters can be settled out of court via a plea agreement.  When a not guilty plea is entered, the defendant will be referred to the Municipal Prosecutor’s office.  This meeting will give the Prosecutor and the defendant time to negotiate a settlement. If no settlement is reached, the matter will then move forward to trial.  All negotiated agreements must be approved by the Municipal Judge.

In the event that a matter is not settled and is going to trial, the Municipal Prosecutor will represent the State’s side of the matter. You, an attorney that you hire, or, an attorney that has been appointed to you, will represent your side. The Municipal Court Judge will preside over the hearing and decide if the defendant is guilty or not guilty. There are no juries in Municipal Court matters.

The office of the Municipal Prosecutor is located in the Municipal Court Complex located at 736 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
