Discovery Of Puerto Rico Celebration

November 19 @ 6:00 pm

The public is invited to help commemorate the Discovery of Puerto Rico in 1493, and the contributions of Vineland’s Puerto Rican community which has been integral part of the city’s cultural, economic, and civic life for generations.  The celebration will be co-hosted by Nadia Albizu, Founder & CEO, and Dr. Wanda Albizu, Educational Director, of the nonprofit organization Dream Builders of NJ. There will be presentations about Puerto Rican history and culture, fun activities for all ages, opportunities to share and learn more about the island’s vibrant traditions, and entertainment by Juan Ramos, El Trio Los Originales, Aileen Seda, Raices Boricua, Luis Figueroa, along with young artist Elijah Robles Lopez who will be painting during the event.

Attendees are also invited, if able, to help our neighbors in Jamaica affected by Hurricane Melissa with donations of over-the-counter medicines or canned food. All contributions will go directly to relief efforts for those impacted by the hurricane. For more information about the event, please contact Vineland Special Events Coordinator Sheena Santiago at shsantiago@vinelandcity.org, or call 856-794-4000 ext. 4169.
