City Council

​City Council meetings are scheduled on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning with a Pre-Meeting Conferences at 6:00 p.m. and meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, second floor of City Hall. Work Sessions are conducted on the first and third Tuesdays in the Council Caucus Room, second floor of City Hall, beginning at 6:00 p.m.. All meetings are open to the public. Holidays and special items of business may alter the schedule from time-to-time.

RULES FOR CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT

Regular meetings of the Vineland City Council are scheduled on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month on the second floor of City Hall. There is a pre-meeting conference in the Council Caucus Room adjacent to Council Chambers, beginning at 6:00 p.m. and the regular meeting, in Council Chambers, begins at 6:30 p.m. Work sessions are conducted on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Council Caucus Room, beginning at 6:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public with the exception of certain closed executive session meetings designated by resolution in advance. Meeting agendas are generally posted on the City of Vineland website the Friday before the meeting date.

Public comment is welcome at the beginning of each regular meeting and work session before the governing body discusses individual agenda items. This comment period provides an opportunity for members of the public to inform the governing body about their views on local government topics. The governing body prescribes to City Council’s by-laws and the NJ Statutes on Open Public Meetings when engaging during public comment. Upon recognition by the Chair, speakers should state their name for the record.  All persons are expected to engage in respectful and orderly discourse under the following rules:

  • Each individual shall have a five-minute limit to comment.
  • Speakers cannot yield time to another individual.
  • Speakers may only approach the podium once during public comment for any one topic.
  • Vulgar or offensive language is prohibited.
  • City Council will not engage in dialogue with the public during this time.

The governing body maintains model courtesy and respect and requires members of the public to do the same.
