About
Mayor Robert Romano
Mayor Robert Romano is a lifelong resident of Vineland and
a graduate of Vineland High School and attended Cumberland
County College.
For
34 years he served in the Vineland Police Department moving
up in rank and retiring as a Lieutenant in the Internal Affairs
Division. During his career as a police officer, he worked
in the K-9 Unit where he earned numerous awards and commendations;
Criminal Division - Detective Bureau; Street Crimes Unit and
supervisor in the Patrol Division. He also served as President
of the Vineland Superior Officers Association and is a past
member of the PBA Local 266 and current member of the FOP
Lodge 8.
In
addition to his leadership roles in the police department,
Mayor Romano has been very active in serving his community
as a past board member of the Vineland Downtown Improvement
District; coach for the Vineland Farm League and Vineland
Mini-Wrestling.
Robert
Romano was elected Mayor of the City of Vineland in May 2008
and was sworn into office on July 1, 2008. He is committed
to restoring integrity and accountability in local government.
Since
taking office on July 1, 2008, Mayor Romano has accomplished
the following:
- Reopened
the front steps of City Hall
- Reinstated
an Open Door Policy for the Mayor's Office
- Appointed
and filled all Department Director positions with current
employees saving taxpayers thousands of dollars in salaries
and health benefits costs
- Director
of Fire
- Business
Administrator

of Public Safety
- Director
of Licenses and Inspections
- Director
of Health
- Director
of Finance
- Director
of Public Works
- Director
of Electric Utility
- Terminated
the position of CEO for the Vineland Electric Utility and
reinstated the Director position
- Reinstated
City Walks in residential neighborhoods and commercial districts
- Reinstated
employee trust and morale
- Created
the Welcome Home Ceremony Program for our soldiers/veterans
coming back home
- Created
the Human Relations Commission
- Created
a Cultural Committee
- The
re-lighting of the Vineland Municipal Electric Utility power
plant sign
- Targeting

Banner displays are coordinated by the Mayor's Office. Click

- Proclamations
and Awards:
Anyone interested in having the Mayor present a proclamation
or award should contact his office at least two weeks in
advance and complete a Proclamation
Request Form.
- Welcome
Home Ceremony:
If you have a loved one or a friend that is returning home
from active duty in the military and would like the Mayor's
office to give him or her a hero's welcome please complete
a Welcome Home Ceremony
form and contact the Mayor's Office.
- City
Hall Tour:
