VINELAND: Electric Utility gets city approval for another step in long-range plan

From staff reports

VINELAND – The city’s electric utility received the approval it needed from City Council on Tuesday to move forward with an interconnection feasibility study.

The Vineland Municipal Electric Utility wants to build a 64-megawatt generation facility by June 1, 2014. The utility wants to build the facility on Lincoln Avenue

To meet that goal, the utility needs to undergo the study to determine the feasibility and costs of the project.

Director Joseph Isabella recommended to the council that the city enter a generation interconnection feasibility study agreement with PJM Interconnection of Norristown, Pa.

The project is part of the electric utility’s long-range plan, which includes a 60-megawatt generating unit that is on track for operation in early 2012 at the West Avenue power plant.
