March 28, 2009 Vineland residents have new, automatic option for paying utility bills VINELAND -- City residents used to mailing in utility bills or stopping by City Hall to drop them off now have another payment option. Mayor Robert Romano and Vineland Municipal Electric Utility officials announced Friday a pre-authorized payment plan option that will allow the utility to automatically deduct a customer's bill from their checking account monthly, officials said. "VMEU is behind the times in providing convenient payment options for our customers," VMEU Director Joseph Isabella said. "The pre-authorized payment plan is our first step in a continuing effort to improve our processes." Customers will receive an insert with their April utility bill that will also include the application form. "This is another customer service that will be provided by the city in conjunction with the Vineland Electric Utility," Romano said. "This service is moving the city into the 21st century."
